Those comparisons do not show better graphics on the original. Which by comparison just for console the remaster is much better. Originally posted by animal_PLANET:Can you show proof of this? Id like to see what you saw that shows a worse environment.Īlso, everyone already know this remaster is aimed more for console than PC. Still on the fence about picking this up though. It would really be a shame if this was not fixed to put more fog back in the game. Since the environment is what makes the game and what Remedy promoted so much of their engine to be. It seems the aspect of the character is stretched or it was just a poor job done on the re-model. It def takes away the tone and feel of the original. The remastered version has the fog toned down and it also effects the way the lighting is and how it shines thru. Unfortunately this seems to be the case from the new gameplay videos that are releasing.

Less fog =) Seriously? It's was Xbox 360 720p blurry version and now they made full PC version for modern consoles. It's almost as bad as the Crysis Demaster. Evertthing looks so artificial now, unlike the original game. They've toned down the fog heavily and made the textures ultrasharpened like I said before.

You really dont even know what version of the game was shown either in these. I'd say wait for the release and make the comparisons than. The comparisons here really dont illustrate well what the person is highlighting. The fog is a moving entity and it may not have been that thick yet if the storm was just picking up for that scene. Also hard to get an idea of fog because its a still shot. I can see how this could take away from the feel of being less but the clouds of fog stand out more. Maybe because its not as messy?Īs for the fog, the older version is more blurred making it seem like the fog is more dense. You see more of the individual hair in the new version. Saying the characters model has different hair is dumb too. Maybe it'll look different in final release? Like he had a blower fluffing up the jacket or he gained a few pounds. I will say that Alan does look a bit inflated in those shots. To say that the character model looks like a store mannequin for a still shot, especially from behind is nitpicking. This is really nitpicking here and not accurate statement. The reason you see less shadows in this specific scene because if you look, there is a lot of light sources for the gas station. With the light source being where it is, there shouldnt be a shadow there at all. However, there is a shadow being cast in front of the pump, and down over the curb and disappears into asphalt. If you look at the gas pump in older version the light source is above and in front of pump. So you want to go back to a more dull texture? Where you cant see anything in the distance that you normally should be able to? Saying the graphics are now too clean in the remaster? Hmm, ok. The improved version also looks to be taller. If you count each grass cluster the number is almost identical with the fern plant also there. It’s not too long, took me about 8 hours to finish the main campaign. Those comparisons are really nitpicking. If you like thrillers like classic Resident Evil games and The Medium I’d give it a try. If only there was a way to add some armor (like xmas lights…?). Like Control, the character can be really weak and go down with just a few hits.

I started off on normal and switched to easy midway through and, though I still occasionally died, had a much more pleasant experience overall. I’d recommend starting off on easy on first play through. It is very easy to get flanked which can get frustrating. This is fine when you have a couple enemies but when you get a big crowd it’s best to either just run for the next checkpoint or use flares/flash grenades. Enemies are basically shielded by darkness and you must remove the barrier by shining light on them. The gameplay is ok once you get used to it but may seem clunky and disorienting at first. Some frame-rate jitters here and there also. Graphics are good in terms of the environments but the facial animations are quite dated which may be off putting for some. Very Stephen King style thriller and it even calls it out itself. Overall, despite some annoying gameplay at times, I really had fun seeing where the story was gonna go. Definitely worth playing for $10 or through PS+. With a sequel coming soon I found the Alan Wake Remastered on sale on PSN. I never heard of Alan Wake until I played Control.
